Thousands of households with no income due to the impact of Covid-19 received timely support from Masterise Group.

In a small labor dormitory in Binh Tan District, Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Tran Thi Tham (29 years old) is taking care of her 2 children by herself, a 3-year-old child, a 7-month-old baby. Her husband, the family’s breadwinner, returned to their hometown to take care of his sick mother and could not return to HCMC because of social distancing. "In the past, my husband sold tofu in the street, his income was only a few hundred thousand a day, while the rent for accommodation was 2 million dong per month, not to mention school fee for children and daily expenses. Since the outbreak, I have no income but I have to pay for accommodation, the money my husband sends from my hometown can only be used to buy milk for my children and daily food," said Mrs Tham.

In a nearby house, Nguyen Thi Xuan Diem (40 years old) did not dare to go out for a week because of the epidemic. Seeing that the government came to visit, Diem opened the door. As a garment worker, she had to quit her job more than a month ago because her children were absent from school and had no one to look after. Her husband works as a jewelry designer, but the company is closed, so there is no income. "My family life is precarious, I just want to stop the epidemic and go to work to take care of my children," said Ms. Diem.

Ms. Tham or Ms. Diem are two of thousands of workers severely affected by Covid-19. The 4th epidemic spread, making many workers and people in difficult circumstances even more difficult. In the past few days, the people of Ho Chi Minh City have unanimously supported, worked together, given rice and clothes to those in more difficult circumstances than themselves by charitable activities such as raising money, organizing distribution points for essential goods, etc. Free meals, 0 VND stalls, 0 VND supermarkets... In particular, Masterise Group collaborated with Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union to implement the program "Protecting homes amidst the pandemic " to accompany poor workers, those affected by Covid-19, to overcome difficulties.

The program "Protecting homes amidst the pandemic" aims to empower more than 5,000 workers to overcome the pandemic, through support for housing costs and necessities. The company will coordinate with the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union to provide support to workers who have not received support during this epidemic in Thu Duc City, Binh Tan District, District 5, and Hoc Mon District. In addition, 3,300 workers who are working at construction sites will also be supported with basic necessities. It is expected that all support will be given to employees in July.

Having just received a gift from the Masterise Group, Mr. Nham Ha (73 years old, living in District 5, Ho Chi Minh City) was touched by this gift, which will help his family in the coming difficult days. "I'm old, my son is sick, so I do all the housework from cooking rice to washing dishes. I cannot work during this social distancing. I just hope the epidemic will pass quickly so we can return to normal life." said Ha.

Once selling sugarcane juice for living, when the city was isolated, Mr. Leu Ha Tu (74 years old, district 5) also stopped selling. Having no income his family also struggles with each meal. "Thanks to the attention of the government, companies, my family can have more bags of rice to eat until the end of social distancing," said Ha Tu.

Receiving a gift from Mr. Jason Turnbull - Deputy Managing Director of Masterise Group, Ms. Huynh Thi Kim Chung (40 years old, at 48 Bo Song Street, Binh Tan, Ho Chi Minh City) could not hide her emotion. Ms. Chung used to be a worker, her husband worked as a freelancer but had to quit because of the epidemic. All living expenses for a family with 2 school-age children are based on meager savings. "This amount of support will reduce a part of the economic burden during the epidemic. Now I only take care of my family's health", she shared.

Giving gifts directly to poor workers in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Jason Turnbull can understand the difficulties and circumstances of people affected by the epidemic. "Everyone better contributes a little bit to support those in need, together to overcome this period. Masterise Group is glad to contribute a small part to help the people of the city," he said. As soon as the fourth epidemic broke out, Masterise Group made a long-term plan, contributing to the Government to fight the epidemic. In July, the group also spent 6 billion to support the city with medical equipment for epidemic prevention, including a mobile X-ray machine, 20 patient monitors, 36,400 epidemic prevention sets, and 10,000 epidemic prevention gowns. Previously, the enterprise also donated 3 billion VND to the joint anti-epidemic fund of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

On behalf of the Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control in Binh Tan District, Mr. Le Van Bay - Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Binh Tan District highly appreciated and thanked Masterise Group for the timely support. He said, Binh Tan district currently has 800,000 people, is one of the most populous districts of the city. Among them, there are over 350,000 workers, so the number of people affected by the Covid-19 epidemic is very large. "After the District Fatherland Front called for help, it mobilized 80 units to support 32 products, with a total value of 4 billion. The district also released 2 billion from the fund for the poor, to buy gifts given to people in the area," he said.
