Senior Specialist


Masterise Homes is looking to hire a Senior Specialist to join the Design department team to help drive efficiency and effective function of the company.

The Senior Specialist will report to the Director/ Managers of Concept Design and will assist with implementation of all Architectural & Landscape design activities for all projects assigned to him, and will be assisting the Director/ Managers of Concept design in monitoring day to day activities to insure compliance with MASTERISE design processes, standards & regulations in line with local & international standards.

Key accountabilities

1. External Design work- Business as usual

a. Participate in drafting of project design brief, scope & deliverables for new projects

b. Be involved in the preparation of request for proposal (RFP), and develop a clear understanding of the format

c. Review and comment on all drawings and documents submitted by Design Consultants, and report back to the Manager. Consolidate all comments from manager and
Director/ Managers following design review meeting, and draft all consolidated design comments into design review template and submit to Manager.

d. When required Assist Director/ Managers with inputs required for presentations to BOD.

2. In-House Design work- Business as usual

This section highlights expectations of the Concept design department once internal capabilities are developed and resources/ team is ready to undertake projects using in-house capabilities:

a. Assist Concept Design Director/ Managers to prepare full architectural concept designs for residential, office, retail or mixed-use developments

b. Ensure design is developed in line with company’s vision and objectives

c. Assist with Creation of concept design presentation boards, complete with area calculations, and project efficiency calculations

d. Draft Floor plans and layouts as directed by Managers. And compute projects areas, and efficiency figures

e. Assist in any assigned Photoshop work, or production of 3D max model/ renderings.

f. Seek Director/ Managers’s assistance in understanding of basic building systems, and ensure Concept design is fully coordinated with other disciplines.

g. Attend Concept validation meetings conducted by concept design Director/ Managers and other disciplines Director/ Managers, and keep notes of all arising issues. Input comments into the project’s concept validation report.

h. Transfer comments from concept validation report into concept design “lessons learned” document.

i. When requested, assist Director/ Managers to propose design solutions and improvements to consultants works. This could be in the form of revisions to apartment layouts, Parking layouts, and façade redesign.

j. Assist The Director/ Managers and managers during pre- concept design assessments by conducing any layout drafting and computation of area calculations.

k. Assist the Director/ Managers and Managers to create architectural project vision boards for new developments. This entails developing CGI’s which represents the overall vision (look and feel) for the development, and generating rough area calculations for the development as a whole.

l. When requested by the Director/ Managers, support Marketing department in generating 3D renderings for various areas as needed.

3. Internal departments- Coordination

a. In conjunction with the Director/ Managers, participate in assisting Marketing department with CGI, 3D animation, and Scale Model Vendor selection, evaluation and recommendation by researching the company’s capabilities in relevant work and reporting back to the Director/ Managers.

b. When requested, assist the Director/ Managers in managing work of CGI, 3D animation, and Scale model vendors appointed to produce Marketing materials. Keep Director/ Managers aware of progress and any arising issues.

4. Implementation of Department standards & Processes

a. Review & understand the design management plan (DMP) standard form. Seek Director/ Managers’s guidance for clarifications when needed

b. Review & get familiar with standard RFP templates for Concept design consultancy services. Seek Director/ Managers’s guidance for clarifications when needed

c. Review & understand MASTERISE design standards manual. Seek Director/ Managers’s guidance for clarifications when needed

d. Review & Understand design review checklists, and periodically contribute to developing the document

e. Study, and memorize “statutory design guidelines” document & assist in keeping the document up to date based on latest authority requirements

f. Review & understand Design department processes & procedures. Seek Director/ Managers’s guidance for clarifications when needed

g. Implement all design standards and procedures throughout the various stages of design

h. Ensure periodical review of Lessons- learnt log sheet, and implementation of measures to rectify issues

i. Maintain awareness of industry trends, methodologies, tools, templates and best practices

j. Establish professional relationships with peer professionals in the industry.

m. Maintain awareness of industry trends, methodologies, tools, templates and best practices in project management in relation to design engineering.

n. Maintain awareness of newly launched projects in local market, and continuously explore differentiators for our projects.

5. Development of Personal capabilities

g. Understand your areas of weaknesses and request periodical mentoring from the Design Director/ Managers or setting up training sessions to sharpen capabilities.

  • External Relationship: As assigned by Director/ Managers of Concept design.

A Knowledge   30%
1 Education:
BA level degree in Architecture or higher
2 A working technical knowledge of building systems, building codes, and regional design guidelines.    
3 Talented Concept designer with a good eye to details, Proportions, and Architectural styling.    
4 Great knowledge in building efficiency, and methods of design optimization.    
B Experience   20%
1 2Should come from a design background and have a proven track record with extensive experience in design with  design consultancy firm working on Multi-use developments    
2 Total working experience of 3 years and above.    
3 Experience with international consultancy firm is an advantage.    
C Software knowledge    25%
1 Proficient in common engineering application software (AutoCAD, Photoshop, 3D Max, Sketch up, In Design, Microsoft office, Renderings software).    
2 Knowledge in Revit software (BIM) is an advantage.    
3 Proficient in common application software (Power point, Excel..etc)
